Speight’s was a ’23 born Angus/Dairy X bobby calf, assisted breech birth, revived and tube fed and didn’t stand up until day 10. He came home and lived in the garage bar/gym and hung out with four dogs in the backyard and loved sleeping on the dog beds ~ still here living his best life!

I love sunrises and sunsets, black sand beaches and coffee made with Essenza coffee beans which are roasted in a converted cowshed a few kilometres away.
Through my lens I seek to reveal the extraordinary in the ordinary.
As a former writer and photographer for NZ Rural Press, and the Chief Reporter for The Dairyman, a nationwide rural publication, I met some inspiring people and decided to return to farming and currently based in the Waikato of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
In my herd every cow has a name and is not just her tag number.

Riaka is a Te Reo Māori word that means strength and energy, both things a dairy farmer needs with 4:OO am starts and when it sometimes involves a whole lot of physical labour!
